Ms. Rich Steinmetz began her career in private practice as a litigator. She then became assistant regional counsel at U.S. EPA Region 6, where she handled an administrative and judicial litigation caseload of enforcement actions under the Clean Air Act (CAA) and its associated regulations. At Eastman & Smith, Ms. Rich Steinmetz concentrates her practice on environmental and real estate related matters.
A graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU) Paul M. Herbert Law Center, Ms. Rich Steinmetz earned both her juris doctorate and a graduate diploma in Comparative Law. At Eastern Michigan Ms. Rich Steinmetz was not just a full-time student, but also a Division I student-athlete as a member of the softball team.
During her time at LSU, Ms. Rich Steinmetz was employed in the public and nonprofit sectors, focusing on environmental policy, land use, land management and conservation issues. In addition to her employment and studies, Ms. Rich Steinmetz was a senior graduate editor of the Journal for Civil Law Studies, where she authored an article regarding homeowner association restrictive covenants, and a member of the LSU National Environmental Moot Court team, which was a national finalist in 2019. In 2020, Ms. Rich Steinmetz earned two best oralist nods during competition. In her last year at LSU, she was also a member of the Board of Advocates, which seeks to promote and develop students’ advocacy skills.
When she is not busy advocating for her clients, Ms. Rich Steinmetz enjoys playing spending time with her family, playing slowpitch softball, hiking and attending concerts.
